Infinity War left the franchise on a new and unconventional path; Thanos WON, he wiped out half the universe, and he defeated the Avengers. And SPOILERS for the beginning of this movie; Thanos is killed, but not defeated, and he destroys the stones ASAP; the surviving Avengers CAN NOT fix it, leading up to a five year time gap. That was unexpected, and it's right at the beginning of the movie. Having seen the concept art for Endgame, I was expecting the finale to be the Avengers going to Thanos' home world, retrieving the stones, maybe having a few lose their lives, and everything being set back to normal. And spoilers, everything does get set back to normal (not really a spoiler; you seen the new Spiderman: Far from Home trailer? You think Disney are gonna leave their billion dollar money milking machine on a low note? NOT-REALLY-A-SPOILER, everyone and everything gets saved at the end. So the only enjoyment I got from this is how they were gonna fix everything, and as the end of the Avengers franchise as we know it, a time travel plot is cliche, but what else could they do really.

I'm gonna say this up front, for an entire year, THIS IS WHAT I was betting would happen at the end of Endgame, which would have topped Infinity War; the Avengers would pull a Rick and Morty. SPOILERS for the Rick and Morty episode Rick Potion #9, Rick and Morty end up having to escape their reality and live in a different reality after they destroy the entire world. My bet for Endgame is that the Avengers would end up having a final battle with Thanos; but Thanos would defeat them again, and once again, use the stones and wipe out another half of the universe, forcing the surviving Avengers this time around to escape to another universe where everyone who died in their reality actually survived the finger snap in Infinity War. This could open up something great for the MCU; the introduction of the X-MEN and the FANTASTIC FOUR in the MCU now that Disney has purchased 20th Century Fox.

What I think I loved most is seeing all these characters again one last time, the original Avengers, all making peace with their situations, and making amends. You understand their motivations, and you can sympathise with them in a world where their friends and family just died in the blink of an eye. You remember all the best interactions and all the best scenes from all the movies. Not everything your expecting to happen happens but I guess that's what makes the MCU more grounded and real than Hack Snyder's DCEU: There will always be things you wanna see, but sometimes, it just can't happen, or won't happen they way you want them to. Personally, I wanted Tony and Bucky to make amends and for Tony to forgive him (spoilers, doesn't happen) and I also would've preferred Bucky to become Captain America (spoilers, also doesn't happen) but the film still makes sure some expectations are met, and the one at the end is pretty damn satisfying.

I remember seeing the trailer for Iron Man in 2008, and my first MCU movie was The Incredible Hulk, and I've watched every MCU movie since (except for Captain Marvel; I'm shocked that movie made over a billion, and even more surprised this bint got a movie before frigin BLACK WIDOW got her own movie. We all know that Endgame is the last appearance of both Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, and what I will say is they both have surprising endings in this, but other than that I won't spoil it. The MCU has been a great achievement in cinematic history, over 10 years of movies all tying in to each other, and a master class of world building and characters. This will probably never happen again: didn't work for DC, or the Universal Monsters; it hasn't even worked out for Star Wars.

For those who have followed the MCU since 2008, this is a great conclusion to the world, the characters, and I would definitely recommend it.
